Hampton Rod & Gun Club 5-Stand

 

5-Stand is an abbreviated form of Sporting Clays.  Presentation consists of 5 targets per station and there are 5 stations (5-Stand) for at total of 25 birds. $5.00 per round members. $7.00 per round non-members.

The game offers several different skill levels and the Hampton Rod & Gun Club utilizes eight automatic traps to simulate game bird presentations.  Targets are released in a predetermined set sequence as shown on a menu card located on the upper left of each shooting cage station.

 

Level I: 

  • Single Target:  Shooter may fire two shots to break the target.
  • First Report Pair:  Two targets are thrown, per the menu, on “report” which means the second bird is thrown after a shot is fired at the first target.
  • Second Report Pair:  Two new targets are thrown per the menu.

 

Level II: 

  • Single Target:  Shooter may fire two shots to break the target.
  • Report Pair:  Two targets are thrown, per the menu, on “report” which means the second bird is thrown after a shot is fired at the first target.
  • True Pair:  Two new targets are thrown simultaneously per the menu.  Shooter must determine which target to take first in order to accomplish breaking both targets. Shooters may shoot twice at one of the targets.

 

Level III: 

  • Single Target:  Shooter may fire two shots to break the target.
  • First True Pair:  Two targets are thrown simultaneously per the menu.  Shooter must determine which target to take first in order to accomplish breaking both targets. Shooters may shoot twice at one of the targets.
  • Second True Pair:  Two new targets are thrown simultaneously per the menu. 

 

When all shooters complete their respective station, upon the trapper’s instruction, each shooter will make their gun safe (empty) and move to the next station for another 5 target presentations.  This will continue until each shooter has had 5 target presentations from each of the 5 stations. It is recommended that shooters begin the round with 35 shells.

 

5-Stand Rules

 

1)      Eye and ear protection are mandatory.

 

2)      Shotguns are limited to 2 rounds at a time. Shot size is limited to #7 ˝ - # 9 .

 

3)      Any gauge shotgun may be used as long as it is fired from the shoulder.

 

4)      Chokes may not be changed after the round has begun.

 

5)      Shooters, upon entering the station/cage must place the barrel(s) of their shotgun over the front rails.  At this point they may load a gun with two shells.

 

6)      While in shooting stand, with the shotgun barrels over the front rail, any unfired rounds must be unloaded from the gun prior to leaving the stand. 

 

7)      When not in the firing stand, the action of your gun must be open and empty.  The gun must be pointed in a safe direction.

 

8)      Shooters must remain within their station / shooting cage during an active round of shooting.  Shooters may not leave their station until instructed to do so by the trapper / referee.

 

9)      Shooters requiring assistance are to raise their hand to signal the trapper or referee of a problem and request assistance. 

 

10)  Misfires are not to be placed in the bucket with empty shells.
